Materials

DAP Board Coffins
Colours are determined by the colour of the DAP paper we request. To increase the range of colours we can offer, a toned colour finish may be applied to the coffin during polishing (e.g. shaded coffins). Some coffins may be requested with a painted finish. Finishes such as matt, satin or high gloss are available. Coffins are constructed with an MDF bottom.

Timber Veneer Board Coffins
Colours are achieved by staining the Radiata pine veneer with tones such as Rosewood, Maple, Mahogany and Cedar. Some coffins may be requested with a painted finish. After the staining process is completed, finishes such as matt, satin or high gloss are available. Where specified, some veneer board coffins we offer have a solid timber Radiata pine lid. Coffins are constructed with an MDF bottom.

Solid Timber Coffins
All solid timber coffins are manufactured from timber available at the time of production. The timber most commonly used is plantation Radiata pine. Some coffins may be requested with a painted finish. Unless specific timbers such as Solid Cedar or Camphor Laurel are specified, colours are achieved by staining the plantation Radiata pine with tones such as Rosewood, Maple, Mahogany and Cedar. Finishes such as matt, satin or high gloss are available. Coffins are constructed with an MDF bottom.

Solid Timber Caskets
All solid timber caskets are manufactured from timber available at the time of production. The timber most commonly used is plantation Radiata pine. Some caskets may be requested with a painted finish. Unless specific timbers such as Solid Cedar or Camphor Laurel are specified, colours are achieved by staining the Radiata pine with tones such as Rosewood, Maple, Mahogany and Cedar. Finishes such as matt, satin or high gloss are available. Caskets are commonly constructed with a plywood bottom.

Oversize Coffins

Our oversize coffins are produced with thicker bottoms, deeper sides, deeper ends and wider lids than standard sized coffins; approximately 35% more material is used to produce oversize coffins. Levels of board waste is higher when producing oversize coffins because of size limitations of raw material. Workplace Health and Safety regulations generally require an additional person to lift and move each oversize coffin throughout all stages of assembly, polishing, warehousing and loading delivery vehicles. In most cases, only one or two oversize coffins of any model is produced at a given time.
